Terms of service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and STEMinute ("we", "us") about your use of the STEMinute website and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use it.

1. Who can use STEMinute

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian's permission.

2. The Service

STEMinute publishes a hard math or physics problem each day. You can type an answer once per question and get a score that depends on whether you are right and how quickly you answer. The Service is free today. We may change, add or remove features at any time.

3. Accounts

You can use much of the Service without an account, or sign in with Google or Apple to keep your results. Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Choose a display name that is respectful and not misleading. We may change or remove a name that breaks these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

Do not:

• cheat, or use scripts, bots or other automation to play or to change scores;
• copy, scrape or republish our questions and solutions in bulk;
• bypass rate limits or security features, or try to get answers before you are meant to see them;
• attack, overload or damage the Service, or test it for weaknesses without our written permission; or
• use the Service to break the law or to harm others.

5. Our content

The questions, solutions, figures, design, name and software of the Service belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to use them for your own learning. You may share your results. You may not otherwise copy, sell or build on our content without our written permission.

6. Scores and results

Scores are for fun and learning. They are not official tests or grades. We may correct or remove a score if there was a mistake or a rule was broken. A question or solution may contain an error despite our care.

7. Third-party services

The Service uses Google and Apple for sign-in, Google to show ads, and Cloudflare for hosting. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to what they do. We do not control the ads shown or the sites they link to, and we are not responsible for them.

8. Changes and ending

We may change, pause or stop any part of the Service, and may suspend access if you break these Terms. You can stop using the Service at any time.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. The content is for general education and is not professional advice.

10. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not be more than US $50.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States. Any claim must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we change the date at the top. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the new Terms.
